Social Sciences Collection Development Librarian Queen Elizabeth II LibraryThe person we want to hire:Memorial University is seeking an energetic and highly motivated librarian with a strong service orientation who enjoys interacting with people. The person hired will excel at planning, delivering library services and shaping the Libraryâs collections of resources. The individual should be committed to a reflective professional practice that identifies needs, creates solutions, and involves both team and individual working styles.The successful candidate will have a degree from an ALA accredited graduate program. We encourage applications from librarians who have advanced academic subject qualifications in one of the social sciences. Anthropology, Folklore, Psychology or Sociology would be most desirable. You should be attracted to an evolving workplace that strives to meet changing user needs and the long term requirements of research and scholarship.Since our future will be defined by emerging technologies, familiarity with the current state of information technology and a commitment to keep abreast of its evolution are also needed. Previous experience in collection development and/or library instruction and/or reference work would be an asset, as would experience or familiarity with research methods and with the application of information technology in medium-sized to large academic libraries. …
