UW-Marathon County, Wausau, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic reference librarian with a strong commitment to service and interest or experience in instruction. The library at UWMC has a commitment to facilitating faculty and student research, interlibrary loan, a strong service orientation. The library uses Endeavor’s Voyager automated system SFX and MetaLib softwares and invests heavily in electronic reference and full-text sources.

Position: The working title is reference, instruction and interlibrary loan librarian. This is a 12-month appointment.

Position Summary and General Responsibilities: Provide information and access to information in printed and electronic formats; provide library instruction; promote and provide interlibrary loan; assist in the planning and development of programs to meet the changing needs of information users; flexible schedule with some evening hours required.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide reference services using traditional print resources and a wide array of electronic resources available to UW-Marathon students, faculty, staff and community users and support the UW Colleges virtual reference services.

2. Offer general library orientation sessions and classroom bibliographic instruction in the use of print and electronic resources including developing search strategies necessary to use the library’s resources effectively and efficiently.

3. Create and produce instructional and promotional library related materials for the community and maintain the library web pages.

4. Design, teach and assess course-related library instruction/information literacy sessions; develop programs/workshops focused on the library and its resources for students, faculty, and other groups.

5. Supervise and manage the varied interlibrary loan services offered to UW-Marathon students, faculty and community.
