How to search the web

Are you having a hard time finding what you are searching for online? Or maybe you teach web search techniques to students, colleagues, friends or family and need a tutorial or guide to web search? Here are some easy ways to teach web search.
Pandia started out, way back in 1998, as a guide to web search. From time to time we like to go back to our roots and provide information about web search strategies and how to search the web.
The Pandia Goalgetter Web search tutorial
The Pandia Goalgetter tutorial is a real classic. In fact it’s part of the curriculum at a number of colleges and universities.
This tutorial is a short and easy guide to Web searching, search engines and directories. This little crash course will teach you how to explore the Net more efficiently. In addition to describing how to build a good search query, it also gives an easy introduction to Boolean search.
Web Search Strategies in Plain English
The Commoncraft Show is a husband and wife enterprise just like Pandia. Lee and Sachi LeFever produce a series of short explanatory videos on all kinds of subjects, but mainly Web technology. Their goal is to fight complexity with simple tools and plain language.
Here at Pandia Headquarters we are big fans of the Commoncraft Show. And we are very happy that their most recent release is Web Search Strategies in Plain English. In less than 3 minutes, this funny yet eloquent little animated video explains how to search the Web in a way that kids and perhaps even my old mother will understand.
If you teach Web search strategies, you might want to buy and download the video from the Commoncraft Store.
