A little knowledge is a good thing
Many adults find themselves in the Children’s Room either as a parent helping their child, or by mistake looking for the restroom. But before you scurry back upstairs to the familiar safety of the adult section take a moment and consider what the Children’s Room has to offer you as an adult.
Many of us have a desire to learn, but not a lot of time. The Children’s Collection can offer an adult an introductory look on just about any subject you can think of. The Children’s Room is the perfect place to learn “just enough”. Want to know more about that important historical person but don’t have time to wade through a 500 page biopic of the life and times of so and so? Check out the Children’s Biography section to get a taste of Gandhi, The Wright Brothers, Mothers Teresa and many others. At the other end of the collection in the 900’s you can pick up a history book and learn about the Civil War in 200 pages! That’s just enough information to get you started, withoug scaring you off.
Want to study the stars? Want to brush up on your chemistry, or know a little more about the weather? Visit the 500’s in the Children’s Room and learn the basics in a friendly, easy manner without being overwhelmed.
Thinking of starting a new hobby? If a children’s book can teach a child to knit, it can teach you too! You can learn to draw, play chess or fold origami.
